Interaction design (IxD) students follow a programme of core courses within clasVEM, IUAV University’s two-year graduate degree in Graphic and Multimedia Design. Students do a total of 4 studio courses a year (8 credits each) and 9 lecture/seminar courses (6 credits each). All but two of the Interaction Design courses are taught in English so the students are well able to operate in English.
Studio courses (meet 4 afternoons per week for 11 weeks):
Lab 1: Mobile applications and prototyping using Processing;
Lab 2: Physical computing using Processing and Arduino.
We recommend students who want to become interaction designers to repeat the studio courses in their second year or to take either one in video or one of the product design interaction design studios.
Seminar courses (4 hours per week for 11 weeks plus homework):
Theory 1: Introduction to interaction design
Theory 2: Digital technologies
Theory 3: Introduction to web technologies
Thesis project (working independently, about 6 months, usually September to April, with tutorials every 2 weeks). This is designed to show what individual students can do, relatively unaided.
